Yesterday was the Alpha Sig's T-shirt social, as clearly stated in the title of this post the theme was, "Revenge of the Nerds." I went with the wonderful Alex Yee, and I think we had the best shirts if you ask me (I might be slightly biased though). I was so happy to have my lovely roommate Maddie with me too! It was seriously such a fun night and I got to meet a lot of the other boys in the fraternity. Its always a blast hanging out with them. Oh and I got Pita Pit provided for me on the way home, always a perk to the night. Sunday, March 27, 2011

NY with mama bear
We decided to take a girls trip, just the two of us, to New York for a few days of my Spring Break. Left late Sunday, landed early Monday. Took a taxi to our hotel, the driver was great...but he insisted on talking like 3 decibels louder than necessary. Got to the hotel, napped then wandered towards Time Square. We walked around and just explored a little bit. Saw St. Patrick's Cathedral and then went to the top of the Empire State Building, the view was ridiculous.
Tuesday: Took an adventure on the subway over to the American Museum of Natural History, walked across central park and over to the Metropolitan Museum. It had lovely pieces, and some...lets go with interesting. And I'll be the first to admit I'm no expert on art, but I can definitely appreciate it. But since when is a canvas painted solid blue, or a old plastic chair museum worthy? haha Mom and I got a kick out of some of the pieces to say the least. Then wandered back through Central Park (which I'm in love with) and happened upon this lovely little restaurant called The Boathouse. After our late lunch we went back to get ready to see my first Broadway, Mary Poppins. It was amazing! I absolutely loved it, and we finished the night off perfectly by wandering around Time Square at night to see the lights. (where we discovered they were filming some Ashton Kutcher movie about 2012?)
Thursday: Our final day. We experienced the mob of the St. Patrick's Day Parade on our way to see Grand Central Station. We then packed our bags and headed to the airport. It was the perfect few day. <3 you mama, thanks for accompanying me!

here's to happiness

"Life is complicated. It starts before we're ready, it continues while we're still trying to figure out the point of it. And it ends long before we've worked out just what to do." - Adrian Tan
...and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's been a stressful week, but shinning through it all I'm genuinely happy. It is the happiness that comes from within that is truly mine to own. Life is messy, wonderful, confusing, happy, exciting, devastating and imperfect. It is the imperfections that make it perfect. My advice to any of my friends when something hurts, is that it is supposed to. We are supposed to take the raw moments and grow. None of us should die with a whole and perfect heart. We should be brave enough to give pieces of it away, allow yourself to care about our friends, family, loved ones and even strangers enough to be hurt, and one day it will have been all worth it. I'm going to be proud of my bruised and scrapped up heart because it'll mean I've lived for something worthwhile. I'm proud of my scars both inside and out (if you know me at all, you will know that I'm the most accident prone person you will ever meet, we could play connect the dots with my surface scars). I am proud and happy of who I am today, and I'm not sorry for anything that's gotten me here. The most amazing lesson I learned in Thailand was to let things be. I don't need to have things planed out minute by minute, if things don't work out perfectly, it's ok. Most of the time it turns out better that way anyways. So here is to happiness, everyday.
