NY with mama bear

We decided to take a girls trip, just the two of us, to New York for a few days of my Spring Break. Left late Sunday, landed early Monday. Took a taxi to our hotel, the driver was great...but he insisted on talking like 3 decibels louder than necessary. Got to the hotel, napped then wandered towards Time Square. We walked around and just explored a little bit. Saw St. Patrick's Cathedral and then went to the top of the Empire State Building, the view was ridiculous.
Tuesday: Took an adventure on the subway over to the American Museum of Natural History, walked across central park and over to the Metropolitan Museum. It had lovely pieces, and some...lets go with interesting. And I'll be the first to admit I'm no expert on art, but I can definitely appreciate it. But since when is a canvas painted solid blue, or a old plastic chair museum worthy? haha Mom and I got a kick out of some of the pieces to say the least. Then wandered back through Central Park (which I'm in love with) and happened upon this lovely little restaurant called The Boathouse. After our late lunch we went back to get ready to see my first Broadway, Mary Poppins. It was amazing! I absolutely loved it, and we finished the night off perfectly by wandering around Time Square at night to see the lights. (where we discovered they were filming some Ashton Kutcher movie about 2012?)
Wednesday: Went downtown to see the Statue of Liberty. On our way to the boat we found a lovely little grocery store with amazing pizza. Walked by the Ground Zero reconstruction site. Happened across St. Paul's Cathedral and then made our way to our boat. Driving around the harbor and past the Statue of Liberty was one of my favorite things. I loved seeing the things I've learned about in my history books. When we got back I readied myself and walked 17 blocs to meet the lovely Alejandro and his friend for a Thai dinner. I've missed him and all the rest of the Thailand family dearly. I loved seeing him. I then took myself, my school book, and just sat at a table in the center of Time Square for an hour reading. It was perfect.
Thursday: Our final day. We experienced the mob of the St. Patrick's Day Parade on our way to see Grand Central Station. We then packed our bags and headed to the airport. It was the perfect few day. <3 you mama, thanks for accompanying me!
